Hourglass - Ashram Poets

Vale Greg Vincent 29/03/1965 - 07/02/2021 Caught inside an hourglass Sometimes it seems sublime We try to stop from falling inwards We try to freeze in time Visions come and visions go We breathe our dreams to life So many goals to strive and aim for Some only turn out right All the time we’re shifting forwards But restless seas arise We find a cove to moor our lives in When seasons come to lif...

Moved me to tears. Thank you ❤
I heard it today on radio three too. Amazing
Heard these people singing this on Radio 3 tiday! Bloody brilliant! 🙋🙏🕊️🙏👍
Me too - fabulous
Beautiful.
I don't know of any other versions of this song, but I do know that this arrangement is beautiful on its own merit. Love a cappella male voices!
Try also Southampton university choir, and St Martin in the Fields choir! Both excellent. Just like these peeps! 👍🙏🕊️🙏🙋🏴🇮🇪
Absolutely wonderful
Beautiful
My family know that I want this playing at my funeral. Not that I plan leaving any time soon😊
Hugely moving. Tempo perfect for the content.
Far too slow .. the song loses its impetus by being dragged out .
Beautiful.
The Spookys are not 'professional' - they are 'amateurs' but are very competent! ;-)
Where is credit to Rani Arbo for writing the music?
Noted and corrected - apologies for the omission
Enjoyed that.
I enjoyed that. More please.
Bully--------------really GREAT JOB Gents. CHEERS sydney , n .s. Canada
Thanks Davebow Hol, much appreciated
Alfred Lord Tennyson 1889 Crossing The Bar Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar When I put out to sea; But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home. Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell When I embark; For, though from out our bourne of time and place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face When I have crossed the bar.
Thanks for the words @anybody
In loving memory of George Floyd 🙏
This never fails... strikes right to the soul I have to listen to both versions, though. Ely Lady Chapel's greater resonance does more for the music, less for the diction. Both weepily wonderful.
Thanks Mary - this was videoed in an available space, in fact where most of the tracks for 'Warm' were recorded. Agree the Chapel had a much greater resonance (hard to beat!) but we also like the honesty of this one - glad you enjoyed
Too slow. Pick up the tempo.
Crossing the Bar BY ALFRED, LORD TENNYSON Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea, But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home. Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark; For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face When I have crost the bar.
🙏
Too slow. 'Salamander Crossing' did it better. I DO like the a-capella harmony though....
Absolutely heavenly and couldn't help but join in. So calming.
I'd love to do some live recordings of you lot. This is beautiful stuff! Get a Bandcamp up and running, lads!
You'd be very welcome Brad! We just played last night at WinterMagic, but will probably look at a launch later in the year
Fabulous!
Thanks lads. Tears to my eyes, balm to my soul. You make me glad to be a man.
Greg I showed the boys your music they love it
Thanks Billy, I'll let him know! Cheers Peter
This never fails to make me cry - it's so very beautiful.
this group has a beautiful sound, but their version of rani arbo's gorgeous song just too slow to do it justice.
Lovely, so lovely.
awesome guys.
love it. want to sing this with my own choir.
amazingly lovely and very touching.
I'd like to try to this with my choir. Where can I get the music?
+Graham Codling You can send an email to spooky men@gmail.com, though I'm not sure if we have the dots written up for this one yet - sorry for the late reply!
My friend would like this played at his funeral. On what cd is it listed on. Beautiful.
The most moving song of the bury St Edmunds concert. Amid the lunacy, it is good to know that these guys are thoroughly competant and profeshional.
One for my Funeral.
Absolutely beautiful
Beautifully sad
